THE PROBLEM

Mainstream travel media often promotes fast-paced itineraries, popular destinations, and surface-level experiences. This leaves little room for travellers who want to slow down, explore lesser-known places, and build a deeper connection with the environments and cultures they visit. The challenge was to create a travel publication that encourages intentional travel, values immersion over speed, and appeals to readers looking for a more thoughtful alternative to conventional travel magazines.

MY SOLUTION

I created a magazine concept centred on the idea of slowing down — spending longer in fewer places to build a stronger connection with local environments and cultures.

Brand & Editorial Concept

  • Defined the magazine’s positioning, tone of voice, and editorial values
  • Developed a visual identity that feels calm, reflective, and intentional
  • Chose typography and layout systems designed for long-form reading

Print & Layout

  • Designed editorial spreads exploring lesser-known destinations
  • Balanced strong photography with generous white space and thoughtful pacing
  • Created cover concepts and internal grid systems to support future issues

The final result demonstrates how a travel magazine can shift focus from where to go next to how to be present where you are.
